Abstract

Microcontroller-based LED matrix moving message display has become an important and prominent symbol of city lighting, modernization, and information society. It is used to carry information and beautify people's lives with decoration. Microcontroller-based moving message displays are widely used in towns and cities to display information to the general public. The hardware and software design of moving message displays can be implemented using a single PIC16F877A microcontroller. The system mainly involves the PIC microcontroller, LED matrix display, and data shifting using registers. The LED display system consists of multiple sections of 5-pixel by 7-pixel dot matrices, which are controlled by the microcontroller I/O ports.
