The standalone C.S.T solar PV system under study was designed and partially installed in 2018 after which it remained ideal for 2 years. Therefore, the purpose of this project is to rectify the partially finished PV system that was built using the recycled PV. This paper reports on site analysis that is, calculating shading factor using the sun chart developed using R-console for the project site (the shading factor for the PV system under study was 98% meaning only 2% of the total PV panel is shaded) and layout of the proposed system (grid-tie system) was developed. Since the proposed system is grid-tie system, inverter sizing, selection and analysis was done. To determine the degradation of the reused PV panels, outdoor testing was performed on a string of PV modules and it’s current-voltage (I-V) and power-voltage (P-V) curves are plotted. Effect of solar radiation and panel temperature is analyzed. Soiling effect on the PV modules is seen to reduce the output power by 10%. Cost-benefit analysis on the system is also presented in the paper.
